Sport & recovery

Train hard. Recovery is half of performance.

Recovery is not rest — it is work, and your body can only do as much of it as the conditions you give it allow. Diet, sleep and physiotherapy matter, but without enough oxygen in the right place performance stalls, injuries do not heal and fatigue lingers. HBOT adds what the other methods are missing.

02

What you run into in sport

If you are here, you are probably dealing with one of these:

  • Recovery lags behind training

You train hard, but your body does not recover before the next effort. Fatigue builds up and performance stalls. The problem is not the training. It is what comes after it.

  • An injury that drags on or comes back

You are recovering, but healing is slower than you expected. Or the injury comes back once you return to load.

  • Performance has hit a plateau

You are doing everything right: nutrition, sleep, a training plan. And yet the results have stopped improving. As if the body were missing something for the next step.

  • You want to be back quickly

After surgery or a serious injury you are looking for a way to speed up your return safely. The standard protocol is not enough.

  • Overtraining and chronic fatigue

Energy is dropping. The body is sending signals that cannot be ignored.

  • Inflammation and pain that persist

Overloaded tendons, sore joints, inflammation after load. Pain that limits training and will not ease even with rest.

Different situations, one cause. The body does not have enough oxygen where it needs it for repair. HBOT addresses that at the root.

03

What HBOT does for your performance

HBOT does not work on symptoms but on the cause. The results are not a feeling but specific changes in how the body actually works.

Faster recovery and less inflammation

Muscles repair sooner and the gaps between training sessions get shorter. Well-oxygenated tissue resists inflammation more effectively and post-exercise soreness eases faster.

Faster healing of injuries

Strained muscles, overloaded tendons, stress fractures. Oxygen supports faster cellular repair where the body needs it.

Higher performance

Better oxygenation of both muscles and brain. More energy for the effort and sharper focus for a race or a match.

Anabolic effect

HBOT supports collagen production, strengthens bone and increases muscle mass. The body does not just recover, it actively gets stronger.

Overtraining prevention

Regular sessions help keep the body in a state where performance grows without unnecessary breaks and plateaus.

A faster return after surgery

Tissue gets what it needs for real repair. The result comes sooner than you expect.

Most clients notice the first difference after 3 to 5 sessions. Systematic change comes with a completed block. A single session before a race will not do it, but a properly set protocol will.

How HBOT works

Oxygen is normally carried by red blood cells, and those have a fixed capacity. Under the raised pressure of the chamber it dissolves directly in blood plasma and reaches tissue with limited blood flow, exactly where the damage happened. Normal breathing is like supplying a city through one main road. HBOT opens every side street.

  • Tissue hyperoxia: the partial pressure of oxygen in tissue rises up to 15×. Cells gain energy they do not normally have.
  • Formation of new blood vessels: oxygen stimulates new capillaries throughout the body. The effect persists long after the therapy.
  • Anti-inflammatory effect: it lowers pro-inflammatory cytokines and reduces swelling and pain without medication.
  • Stem cell mobilisation: HBOT increases the production of stem cells from bone marrow for the repair of damaged tissue.

As the only private practice in Prague we offer genuine HBOT at up to 2.4 ATA in a hard-shell chamber with a BIBS mask. We set the protocol individually according to your sporting goal and current condition.

Maximum pressure
2.4 ATA

The level used in clinical settings. Other private providers in the Czech Republic reach 1.5 ATA at most.

Oxygen delivery system
BIBS

The only standard in serious hyperbaric therapy. Maximum oxygen concentration in every breath. No dilution, exactly where it belongs.

Oxygen purity
94%+

A professional oxygen station with filtration. Consistent values in every session.

Why a cannula (oxygen prongs) is not enough.

With a nasal cannula the client exhales back into the chamber. The exhaled air mixes with the oxygen from the cannula, raises the oxygen concentration inside the closed space above a safe level and at the same time markedly lowers the purity of what the client breathes in. BIBS is a closed system that carries exhaled air entirely out of the chamber, so every breath contains pure oxygen without dilution.

The world’s best athletes use HBOT

HBOT stopped being a fringe method long ago. A number of world-class athletes have publicly added it to their recovery protocol, and for specific reasons.

LeBron James — NBA

LeBron James

NBA · 4× champion

He invests over a million dollars a year in recovery. He owns a hyperbaric chamber at home. He counts HBOT among the key tools that let him play at the top level at an age when most players have retired.

Cristiano Ronaldo — Football

Cristiano Ronaldo

Football · 5× Ballon d’Or

He used HBOT during recovery from the knee injury at Euro 2016. The speed of his return to the pitch surprised specialists. Since then the chamber has been a fixed part of his home recovery protocol.

Michael Phelps — Swimming

Michael Phelps

Swimming · 23× Olymp. gold

The most successful Olympian of all time added HBOT to his protocol between demanding training blocks and races. With the training volume he went through, fast muscle recovery was a career question.

Tiger Woods — Golf

Tiger Woods

Golf · 15× major

He added HBOT to his rehabilitation protocol after repeated back and knee surgery. His return to the golf tour after the serious injury in 2021 surprised the whole sporting world.

Usain Bolt — Athletics

Usain Bolt

Athletics · 8× Olympic gold

The fastest man in history used HBOT for fast recovery after sprint races and intensive training blocks. At the top level hours decide, not days.

Other users include Aaron Rodgers (NFL), Neymar Jr. (football) and Kobe Bryant (NBA).

How to start

The right protocol depends on what you are dealing with. Not sure what suits you? We are happy to advise.

Intensive recovery protocol

For athletes with an injury: a strained muscle, an overloaded tendon, a stress fracture or a return after surgery. The sooner you start the better the result — ideally within 24 to 48 hours of the injury.

In-season recovery block

For athletes who train hard and want to shorten recovery time between efforts. The most popular protocol: 10 sessions spread over 3 to 4 weeks. Use it in the heaviest period of the season or before a key race.

Long-term performance support

From 20 sessions. For athletes who see recovery as part of the protocol. Regular sessions twice a week keep the body in a state where performance grows and overtraining is less likely.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy pricing

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy — 1 session
    CZK 1,600

What athletes most often ask us

When after training should I come for a session?

Ideally within 6 to 12 hours of the effort. The body is in recovery mode and the raised oxygen level supports repair exactly when it is needed. The next day works too — you do not lose the effect, the window just shifts slightly.

How many sessions do I need before I feel an effect?

Most athletes notice the first changes after 3 to 5 sessions. Systematic change comes with a completed block. A single session before a race will not do it, but a properly set protocol will.

Can I combine HBOT with other recovery methods?

Yes, and it is a good idea. HBOT combines well with cryotherapy, massage or physiotherapy. Combining hyperbaric oxygen with an ice bath and red light therapy (RLT) is a popular protocol among many professional athletes. If you are dealing with an injury, coordinate HBOT with your physiotherapist.

Is HBOT suitable for amateur athletes too, or only for professionals?

For both. An amateur athlete who trains a few times a week alongside work and family has less time for recovery than a professional. So they benefit from HBOT just as much, or more.

Can I come while I am injured?

Yes, and that is when it makes the most sense. Both acute and chronic sports injuries respond well to HBOT. Ideally start as soon as possible after the injury. Call us in advance and we will set a suitable protocol for your specific situation.
